In honour of the shenanigans involving the ATO ( Australian Tax Office) and Paul Hogan I want to make a list.
People who get a pass on questionable behaviour
(Providing they are not caught... on tape... clubbing baby fur seals... in Klan sheets... while the camp-fire they made earlier using the bible, Torah, Koran, the Declaration of independence, the Magna carta & the collected works of Tom Clancy burns away in the background)
People who through their work or actions have enriched us beyond the point that we should ever give them grief about something stupid they may have said or done.
For example...
Paul Hogan... Actor, Director, Comedian (Stop laughing) He is all these things and more but most importantly for better or worse he stood as the Aussie Icon for more years than most of us could ever stand it... I mean can you imagine the types of inane conversations “hoges” would have had to be part of in America and worse in LA. Or how many times he's had to endure … “ that's not a knife... That's a KNIFE! Bit done badly in a bad Aussie accent.
No... Mr. Hogan definitely gets a pass! So at the customs desk... Wave em' through. You're frickin Paul Hogan! Or at the footy... sky box! ...You're frickin Paul Hogan! And certainly, under no circumstances does the ATO come after you... just after your mom has died, and tell you that you are now effectively a prisoner in your country... the country that you have gone a long way in helping raise to the status it now enjoys! No you get a pass...
Come on! It's frickin Paul Hogan!
